Barium inoculant is a massive metallurgical material made by mixing silicon powder and barium powder according to the required proportion, and then making steel in a high-temperature furnace. It is an additive used in the casting process of the foundry. It has the characteristics of promoting graphitization, reducing the tendency of whitening, improving the shape and distribution of graphite, increasing the number of eutectic groups, and refining the matrix structure. It can be used in a short time after incubation treatment. It has good effect within 5-8 minutes.
The main functions of barium silicon inoculant are:
1. Strongly increase the graphitization core, refine the graphite, promote the acquisition of A-type graphite in gray iron castings, and improve the strength. For ductile iron castings, it can make the graphite in ductile iron fine and round, and improve the spheroidization level.
2. It can effectively reduce the supercooling degree of molten iron, promote the precipitation of graphite, significantly reduce the tendency of white spots, reduce the relative hardness, and improve the cutting performance of castings.
3. Strong anti-recession ability. The anti-recession time is twice that of 75 silicon. The addition amount of barium silicon inoculant is less than half of that of 75 ferrosilicon inoculant, while preventing the associated spheroidization recession.
4. The wall thickness is less sensitive, improving the uniformity of the cross section and reducing the tendency of shrinkage and porosity.
5. The chemical composition is stable, the processing particle size is uniform, and the composition and quality deviation are small.
6. The melting point is low (lower than 1300°), which makes it easy to absorb melt during inoculation and has very little dross.
Common ingredients of barium silicon inoculant:
Ingredients of barium silicon inoculant (long-acting inoculant): Si: 68%-72%, Ba: 2%-5%, Ca: about 1.5%;
Commonly used particle sizes of barium silicon inoculant:
0.2-0.8mm, 1-3 mm, 3-8mm, 8-15mm can also be customized
Instructions:
It is incubated by the in-bag pouring method. Its adding method, particle size, and precautions are the same as those of ferrosilicon. The amount of addition can be reduced by 30-50% compared with ferrosilicon. Incubation temperature: high-grade gray iron 1450-1500°C, general gray iron and ductile iron 1380-1450℃.
Transport Packaging:
Generally, they are packaged individually in 25kg small bags and then packed in large ton bags.
Commonly used inoculants include:
1.Ferrosilicon granule inoculants can be used not only in the steelmaking industry but also as metallurgical materials commonly used in the cast iron industry. This is mainly because ferrosilicon granules can be used by cast iron manufacturers to replace inoculants and spheroidizing agents. In the cast iron industry, ferrosilicon granules The price of pellets is much lower than that of steel, and it is easier to melt. It is a ferroalloy product with strong casting ability.
2.Flow inoculant is also called instant inoculant. It means breaking the inoculant into fine particles (0.2mm-0.8mm). Through a feeding equipment, it enters the molten iron with the flow of molten iron during the ladling process. to the role of gestation;
3.The graphitization ability of calcium silicon inoculant is 1.5 to 2 times greater than that of 75FeSi inoculant, which increases the number of eutectic clusters. Calcium silicon inoculant contains 2.4% Al, which has the same effect as Al in the previous ferrosilicon inoculant. Therefore, it is a very useful and stable inoculant.
Silicon barium inoculant is a necessary and very important smelting product for casting. It has good applications in the production of gray cast iron and other cast irons. Gray cast iron has not yet been inoculated, the microstructure is unstable, the mechanical properties are low, and white walls of castings are easy to appear. The demand for white mouths in the casting industry is very large to ensure the quality of castings. Consistency and vaccination are crucial. However, due to the wide variety of inoculants, different inoculants have different characteristics, and users can choose different inoculants according to production needs. The entire production process of cast iron requires cooling, and attention should be paid to the cooling rate. Based on these data, the amount of inoculant can be determined, which also plays a very important role in the quality of cast iron.
