Ferromanganese is an iron alloy composed of manganese and iron elements
The chemical properties of manganese are very active. When added to molten steel, it can combine with ferrous oxide to form oxide slag that is insoluble in molten steel and float on the surface of molten steel, effectively reducing the oxygen content in the molten steel. The binding force between manganese and sulfur is greater than When iron is added to sulfur, it can generate manganese sulfide with a higher melting point and be discharged as slag when added to molten steel, which can improve the forgeability, tieability, hardness and wear resistance of steel. Ferromanganese is used as a deoxidizer for desulfurization in steelmaking. Agent alloy additives are the most commonly used ferrous alloys.
Ferromanganese is divided into low carbon ferromanganese, medium carbon ferromanganese and high carbon ferromanganese.
Low carbon ferromanganese: carbon content 0.4%-0.7%, manganese content 80%, silicon content 2.0≤ phosphorus content 0.3-0.4, sulfur content below 0.03
High carbon ferromanganese: carbon content 5%-10%, manganese content 65-75%, silicon content about 3, phosphorus content 0.3-0.4, sulfur content below 0.03
High carbon ferromanganese: carbon content 5%-10%, manganese content 65-75%, silicon content about 3, phosphorus content 0.3-0.4, sulfur content below 0.03
